The Hess Truck is back, and this time it's better and faster than ever. The 2022 Flatbed Truck with Hot Rods won the prestigious Oppenheim Toy Portfolio's Platinum Best Toy Award and Toy Insider's Top Holiday Toy Award. It is an action-packed, 3-in-1 retro-style racing team with 42 lights and 4 realistic sounds, and it has won both of these awards!

 

The long, two-axle Flatbed Truck is a transporter in the style of the first Hess truck, which company founder Leon Hess drove in 1933. The truck is all white, with bright green fenders, body side stripes, and a bed floor that is a different color. It has lots of shiny chrome details, like an embossed front grille, bumpers, light housings, fuel tanks, and exhaust pipes. The cab has four buttons on the top that make 3 realistic sounds (the truck starting up, the truck horn, and the hot rod racing action), as well as flashing lights. The 24 bright lights are turned on and off by a switch under the chassis. The lights can be set to flash or stay on. On race day, the Flatbed hides a handy pull-out ramp with a hydraulic sound that makes it easy to load and unload.

 

The two classic-coupe Hot Rods, one red and one green, have front ends that have been cut away to show supercharged-style engines that are shiny and chrome. White racing stripes and colorful flaming designs on the sides of the body finish off the style. Each one has a powerful pullback motor that revs up and sends it down the drag strip in either a flat or wheelie position. The skinny front tires and wide back tires are designed for speed and grip. Each Hot Rod has 9 steady-on lights that are bright.
