The 1967 Hess toy truck was an 18 wheeler fuel oil tanker. It had the words Fuel Oils on side of the tank and the word Gasoline on the other side. This toy truck originally sold for $1.99 at participating stations. There were 300,000 of these produced. This toy for set the stage for 1967 Hess truck value making it a top dollar collectible.
Although this was the third truck in the Hess toy truck line it was significant because this Hess toy was
made in the USA by the Marx Toy Company, which only made two toys for Hess in the USA, the 1967 Tanker Truck and 1966 Tanker Ship. One of its most acclaimed features is the
Red Velvet Box this truck came in, the bottom of the box was lined in red velvet for maximize presentation purposes and it did just that. Some cool features are the split window sometimes referred to as the split window Mack tanker truck. The heads lights and tail lights worked and it included a removable hose. There are Hess logo decals located on the tractor doors as well as on the rear of the trailer. The bottom of this Hess toy is stamped made in the USA. This Hess tanker trailer is painted in original Hess company colors of dark green, white and yellow with bright red accents.
